Summer of Yoga

You may not remember the Summer of Love, but it will be hard to forget the Summer of Yoga in 2020.

The Summer of Love took place during the summer of 1967, when close to 100,000 individuals, mostly young hippies, converged on San Francisco. Whilst we’re not expecting anywhere near that number, Yoga Mandir has scheduled a range of programs to make this another memorable summer.

Introducing Sadhana-Summer

We’ve reworked our popular online Introducing Sadhana Program (usually completed in 10 weeks) to run over the 5 weeks of summer (January). This short online course for students with Iyengar Yoga experience delivers the structures and principles to undertake a home practice. Participants conduct a daily practice, journal their sequences and submit weekly practice logs whilst using the support material delivered online. No need to be in Canberra for this one!

Introducing Sadhana-Summer commences Monday 30 December 2019.

Classes in January

Throughout January Yoga Mandir continues to run a program of classes for students of Yoga. Classes are held both morning and evening 7 days a week.

Summer is a great time to visit Canberra, so now is your chance. Get to the galleries and bracket the day with Yoga classes both morning and evening. Come and see why Lonely planet said ‘… Canberra has been staking a claim for the title of 'coolest little capital' – and we’re not just talking winter temperatures. Where else could you chill out in with fresh ground coffee, before spotting kangaroos in the capital’s reserves then taking in some of the nation’s best culture?

Hit the road Jack!

Antarayas: Overcoming obstacles to practice

Yoga Mandir runs a series of four, week long intensives in January. The theme for the Summer Intensives program is ‘Overcoming obstacles to practice’. Each week focuses on one level of the Institute’s syllabus. Attendance is both morning and evening for 90 minutes and classes run Monday to Friday.
Have you ever tried to practice at home and felt defeated or inadequate? You are not alone!

Residential Yoga Retreat. 6-11 January

The late 1960’s were associated with counter culture and a back to nature movement. Things went a little wild in the Summer of Love and then plane travel opened up the world for people to explore and find themselves. Yoga came to the west and it never left.

Recently, things have gone a little wild in Yoga, but at its core it is a practice and the Yoga Mandir annual residential retreat fits the bill.

Now’s your time to step out of that busy life, get back to basics and to look inward through this contemplative practice.

Beginners Yoga-Summer Intensive

Each year Yoga Mandir holds a week long Summer Intensive for beginners. The intensive runs for five consecutive days from the 27-31 January, with classes in the morning and evening. The Summer Intensive is a great way to dive into Iyengar yoga and delivers the underpinnings to enter a Foundation Level practitioner course in Term 1, 2020.
